NEWS FROM THE USA:
US House of Representatives voted on July 12,2 007 on H.Res 467 condemning the UCU boycott. The Resolution passed
with unanimous, bi-partisan support in a vote of 414 to 0. For more information on the resolution, go to: http://iafi-israel.

23 Rhodes Scholars signed a statement opposing the boycott, as released by the American Jewish Congress. To see the

More universities reject the boycott. In the US, the presidents of more than 300 colleges and universities have joined
dozens of their colleagues in joining the president of Columbia University, Lee Bollinger, (http://www.columbia.
edu/cu/news/07/06/boycott.html) in condemning the UCU boycott. See the full page advertisement placed by the American
Jewish Committee in the New York Times on August 8, 2007.
NEWS FROM CANADA:
23 Canadian University Presidents have announced that their institutions are opposed to the British boycott of Israeli
academics. Among them are: McGill, British Columbia, York, Carleton, Trent, and Guelph.
OTHER UPDATES:
We will soon have our web site functional, thanks to the work of Giora Weisz. We also that we plan a gala reception at the
ACC to coincide with the 60 years of Israel independence. It will be a wonderful event.
Our treasury is now down to about $7000 (after I had to pay legal fees), which will be woefully inadequate to pay for such a
reception that will easily be $15,000 or more. I am prepared to make up the difference personally, but could sure use some
donations to help with the expenses. Remember, it is tax deductible since we are a 501(c)3 organization. Send whatever
you can spare to “Friends of the Israel Heart Society” and mail to me at D Zipes, 10614 Winterwood, Carmel, IN 46032, or
to the university address below.
